Those who can’t, always criticise “.
Those who do n’t have knowledge always have the wrong notion that others do n’t have knowledge.

It is a fact that without a faculty guidance, no B. Tech. student can publish a research paper even in IIT or MIT.

In final year project work at VSSUT, many students do not know what is the objective of their project work even if they secure O or A grade and very few do excellent original work.

These very few passionate and hardworking students under the constant motivation and sincere guidance of some faculties are clear about their project goal and achieved some thing great which is a rare dream and beyond imagination of many of their counter parts.

hats off to these guys who did this.

Its great that our students are doing some research work.. but i have a small doubt….why the faculty advisors name has been given first in the publications ..as we all know how much is theirs’ effort ..and another thing is does the faculties have sufficeint knowledge on those projects…i doubt it and i doubt it seriously…..As per i know the faculties are just worried about number of publications rather than doing some serious research work.
So Finally my say on this is that if there is a problem in the base of a building the building will not survive….

Congrats to all the Students and the Profs, for all the hard works to get the papers published.
This shows a lot of maturity in the students and am sure, they have started understanding the value of getting their thoughts internationally recognized.
These are the achievements, which would always stay with you and you can proudly embed them in your resume/professional profiles, irrespective whatever professional path you choose.

Interestingly, all these publications are from the Computer Sc. Dept. I sincerely hope, other department students get enough motivation and have dedication to go deep in one or two subjects and make some international/national publication.
Robotics Club has got lots of excellent achievements. May be, they should start publishing(and advertising) their innovations/creations in international journal community.

Congrats again! You have not just got a name for yourself, but also for the University; and have made us feel proud.

MR S.S.MOHANTY is no doubt a down to earth man. He is known around in SAIL for his technical accuman and managerial skill. He has the art of binding people together at all levels. He is liked by all for his amicable behavoiur.

One day I was passing through the great PC chowk with my family in our small maruti. My son noticed the change in the contours of my face. Papa! You look so happy suddenly. What is the matter? My car stopped on the PC BRIDGE. I started remembering the golden days we have spent on these roads with full of Joy and some days with overflowed sorrow. i cannot say I was a lucky few to be here now, but lost 11 friends in PC. I cannot forget the unwanted bravery of crossing the Mahanadi in the bee hours, the late night gossips, my best friends like Mihir, Satchi, Rati, Manas, Sarmistha to name a few. I can n’t forget the great professors like NP,BSP, Kanungo sir. Our word boys, canteen staff ( i do n’t know whether Gopal canteen is still there.) were the people behind our golden moments.
Whenever I feel like going to UCE, i prefer to spend some time in IIT-B campus where my kids study.

A self-made man Sri S.S.Mohanty, as I know him, is a man of great character. Very broad minded & a visionary in its true sence. Never is he impression-driven. Decides things on its face value. Has an rare presentation skill. He is decisive & has a very powerful presence-of-mind.
Managerial skill & a sence of ground realities with a blend of human touch mixed togather make an unique managerial base-mix in him; which I am sure shall lead BSL in particular & SAIL in general to new heights.
He is global.
A leader in its genuine form he is where he is supposed to be.
May got bless him to create new heights in his professional life.

One cannot dispute that one makes the best of friends at UCE and receives decent education at UCE, but have we thought why only a handful of students come back and feel nostalgic about their college. Its because below all these goody-goody and namby-pamby veneer is an utter distatste that each of us have because of being subjected to, at some point in time, indifference of our teachers or indiscipline of our college authorities. We eugolise the strikes, bu have we thought why are there so many strikes at UCE, and more importantly why do they recur and what comes out of any of these?? I touched upon these topics in my editorial in the 2003 college magazine but sadly not much has changed! I like, any of you, would like to see my alma-mater right there on top, but a college and university where reobatining one’s Degree certificate takes months, and still you are not sure if you will ever get it back, only God help it!! Indifference…indifference all the way…the attitude ‘why do I care’, let it be important to someone, how do I care! I made a donation 2 years back but my name never appeared on the donors list. I am not complaining but just wondering even if it was accounted or used at all? I am sure you, I and many others would love to contribute if we can see through till the end point as in where is our money getting used. But alas..wishes were horses! I still love my college for the friends I made and the fests and few classes, but that would be it. As I said in my editorial in 2003, students can be son-like if teachers and authorities be father-like. One day, I hope. Amen!

Year 2004 to Year 2008 …. The days are over but the memories are still beating with the rythm … beautiful moments of my life…these are my most precious YAADEIN…the priceless moments which I lived in a Utopia…

I am missing all those moments…

UCE, Burla … This name has a impacted a lot in my life style and the place has nurtured me to tackle any condition proficiently and diligently.

These 4 yrs taught me to be a good student, a good friend and to be good in all the activities an engineer should be!!!

These activities may include a long list of items but I may write some of them like … those at hostel…those at college class time…those at Panchamukhi,those at Mahanadi river … those at college festivals …those at college strike time… those at Kalia and Bullu Chai Dukan…etc etc…

Gone are those days but those beautiful moments have left some unforgettable moments for life time

so being a UCEan is all time gift of my life.

Missing all UCEians and my college.

Thanks… Nihar bhai 4 developing Such a beautiful Site for our university.
Some points that we should not forget is that..

1)The problem with the old website was that all features were not completed and updated.
2)Website maintainence offloaded to students is a great step.

Its shocking to hear about Sara Sir.He is one of the most friendly teacher I have come across my stay in UCE as well as in my academic career.He used to teach us mechanics.He was a good teacher and a very good human being.I pray to the Almighty for his soul to rest in peace.It is an irreparable loss to UCE.

This is shocking…can’t believe on my eyes on what I am reading. Sar sir was the most student friendly teacher in entire UCE. I can’t forget those T&P days when I came really close to him. It was his hard work and bilief on the students that resulted in a surger in placement during our era and continued next too. M going to miss you sir…

When last tym i visited college, i couldn’t meet you. I thought, i’ll meet you in my next visit; but the next tym is never going to come anymore…

all days at uce was golden memories for me…like
1.trip to panchamukhi on every alternative day with bholi,suryalok,satya or with any juniors and sleeping at PC bridge till late night in summer days
2.those splendid act in dramatics fest.
3.enjoying with friend in various fest.
4.commenting friends and be commented by friends at hostel.
5.fighting for food at hostel.
6.those strike days…..
7.sharing of movies via LAN.
8.fear to meet with professor and seniors.
9.diwali,holi and especially thecricket matches including ipl, T20 at east hostel common room….

list is endless ……..those days will not come….but those days are unforgettable

It was the most daring adventure, way back in 1985 – the moment we felt the freedom of a senior!!

My only role was to collect Rs 1 from anyone interested to watch the special show, slated to be held after mid-night. As it was the first of its kind – inthose days of bulky VCRs and tapes – special precautions had to be taken!!

A wanna-be-free-rider-denied-pointblank had done the insider job of informing the Hostel sup – a stern Electrical Engg Prof!!

Well, the show started in all the earnestness -with traditional Lungis ( Jockey made a entry pretty late into the youth psyche). One hour into the show ( out of a promised 3 hour visual feast), all hell broke loose.

Grapevine had that the crook had guided the professor and Lo!, the Prof was hunched over the VCR and the room went dark. It was stampede!!

The organisers, and the collectors, in that chaos, wanted to get that cassete ejected, sneaking under the prof who was holding on to it with all his might.

The attempt failed!! The machine andthe poor cassette was confiscated and locked in that corner room of east Hostel, which was the Sup office.

We instantly knew who was the guy who gave us in!! We waited for another day, however!!

the Sup locked the hostel and left!!!

The evening of 26th December 2009 brought back a lot of memories – the good, the bad and the ugly. Nevertheless, it was worth every moment I spent my time in the crowd of my classmates. It was a wonderful show of camaraderie and fun. What I recall most from the evening was a funny poke by Debdutt – `ae chhuati kahara?`… (no malice intended)
