My self sumit sharma 2009 passout from electrical engg branch.
I want to cite one thing. You know, though our college is a university now and the best engg institution of orissa, it still lacks d essence of a good university. The reputation and standard of a college not only depends on its status but also on the works and performance of the students, their research work, their interships and their selection in the best universities of d world.
You know, in IITS and now even in NITS and even in mediocre institutions like Delhi college of Engg, MIT Manipal, VIT Vellore, etc students are availing paid internships in world class institutions and companies around d globe which is really giving them a great experience and a strong research base and qualification for their admit to the top universities with very good scholarships.
But in our college the main motto of maximum students has become `JUST TO PASS WITH GOOD GRADES AND A JOB IN HAND` and those who are interested in academics they just aim to maintain their position in their class as a nine pointer , which aids nothing to the college and to its reputation. The reasons are simple-lack of motivation and help by teachers and alumnis. I am not blaming anyone but want to have a new era started in our college. Any XYZ student from an IIT or NIT always goes to a foreign university or company for his internship and research work. Cant the same culture be brought to our college. If they are going for seimens, daimler, ABB, ALstom, microsoft, google or institutions like stanford,ASU,HU,UF etc for their internships we can at least opt for internships in good indian companies like Tata motors, Bhel, Reliance etc or institutions like IITs, IIsc , but even they are rejecting our students for interships. For that reason only, our students end with their summer training in burla power house, hirakud power , grico etc which hardly aid anything to their profile except a certificate which matters nothing when you go outside to compete with other guys! This reveals the reputation of our college. Please forgive me if I am rude in my words.
I am thinking strongly on this topic and i do need your suggestions and help on this regards.
This topic needs a good discussion in this forum so that our alumni association and proffessors can take useful steps for this.
Let us try to pretend as apolitical .political views written on this website should be as neutral as possible . we can launch another forum for expressing political views .

Hi ,
I am looking forward to contact details of UCEians in delhi for a possible get togother . Details such as email id & Phone & organisation working will be a great help
Engineers are technocrats! No doubt, but they are also good managers with high moral values; their service is dedicated to the community developments. Newer innovations of the materials (smart and inert) newer philosophies and implementation mechanisms makes the engineers perfect and complete!!
Except some mean-minded faculties, UCE excels in all areas. Students of UCE will always cherish their life spent @UCE.This opportunity comes once in a lifetime and the continuing students of UCE. Don`t waste ur time. Study and `njoy every bit of life in UCE.
Hi All,
I wish all the UCEan all the best for every thing……….
Today is the closing ceremony of Golden Jubilee ……
When I was in college we had been waiting for this day with great excitement…
Today I am far away from my college and not ableto attain it. But, I can feel its assence. I am missing it a lot………..
I wish everyone(luckiest people) present over there enjoy it to the max…..
Dear Alumnies & My Teachers,
Really this is a great acivement for my UCE to become a separate University. Many many thanks to my teachers & my alumnies who devoted their valuable time for this achivement.
I have the feelings for my UCE, based on whichI can do anything for my Dream College.
As an alumnus I really feel proud that at last we hit a big six in the arena that was on the go from last 3 years, I remember when we were on a hunger strike for this. VSSUT will be shining as an A-class technical university with its full power. I reallythank to all who had contributed their every drop to make a dream come true.
Welcoming a new year with a new Status and new name! A great new year to all but never forget that we were AN UCEian….UCE rocks
I remember when i stepped in to college in 2003 we were gathered in AVC for the status of an IIT in front of our Honorable CM. During my tenure of four years we tried for a Deemed status(including a strike in 2006). Now that same hide n sick is going on.After all, when our college will get its real status. Even a passout don`t know whether he is UCE alumni or OIT alumni.
Hi, I am Rajdeep from 1991 passout batch (El & Tc). Posted at Barrackpore (Kolkata) and serving the nation as an IAF officer. Would like to come across a few of my coursemates.
Instead of Students going for frequent strikes and in the process affecting their academics, its makes more sense if a PIL could be filed by the Alumni Association in the High Court of Orissa and question the UGC as to why have they still not awarded the Deemed Varsity Status to OIT(UCE, Burla).
Moreover if the College is now under an independent society, why not officially rename the College as OIT and thereby remove the last remnants of dominance byBPUT.
Hey Uceians, I was most uncultured cultural secy of UCE, BURLA. But I had given UCE the true color, the cultural revolution started from my days.
Oye Ashesh Padhi.. Let the world know about me…. What was my days in UCE? I am the worst Engineer, UCE has ever produced, right?
Munda, Pagala, Maniac What ever you want to call me. BTW, these name doesn`t matter me now. Ashesh, Who is your big brother? Where is Promod now? Where is our Kalinga Snagharsha Samiti?
Hi UCEians, Trying to get in touch with Ranjan Mallick, P V Raghava Rao, Amit Paul, Sudipta Panda and all the other batchmates of 84-88 batch. Anybody has information on their where-abouts. Please Respond
Thaks for remembering my birthday…July 14 th and my birthday are two things i donot forget else i forget everything…still nostalgic and remember the days and the railway boey trip all over west, south and mid india…mysore jalli incident, verma ..all the names and people still in my back drop…wish days come back…the first guy to make UCE in XIMB and many areas..i love it..i wish all the guys meet once ..
hi,i am (MARANG)from 1991 batch
i am feeling proud to be an UCEian.
Plz bring back my old days of college, that PC bridge,Remed, football ground,Canteen with ulta pouch,New hostel with garden and my lovely goody goody friends of my batch.
Hi,
I am very much thankful to my UCE. Every moments it inspires me. Inspire me to be positive in all activity. Beauty of PC brigde, power channel, goshala metha, world famous Hirakud Dam, Ramed etc. all memory are always live in the minds of all uceanslike me.
A principal of UCE BURLA needs to work like an encounter specialist working in MUMBAI CRIME BRANCH for everybody, because there is still some old bad blood in the faculty of all branches which needs to given forced retirement & driven out of the college ,especially Mr. RK BHOI/PK PRADHAN/JL DWARI.
I do not think CR TRIPATHY is that capable enough.
Hi Friends,
I am from 1989 passout batch.
any message from my batch mates?
Mihir, Debashish, Soumendra, Saroj. I still cherish
the memories grown in UCE.
OMM,

It gave me immense pleasure that UCEians have made this commendable effort. Myself also belongs to physics Alumni of Sambalpur University, under which UCE was functioning previously.
As we have got the Autonomy…so we should think what an autonomous college should have & in which factor we are lagging behind…
see every autonomous college is having a robotics training class.. may be once a week.. at least for 1st, 2nd & 3rd year students….i have tried to tell this to so many teachers & also to our principal…but nothing happened…. Second thing we should have net facility in our hostel….
I think u people know how much it is necessary these days… Our knwledge should not belimited to only whatever written in the books… & also it will be helpful for those who are preparing for GATE….
so plz.. I request to all the alumni of our college to do get at least this to things to us….
Thankingyou…
Hello friends, i went to laser technology department IITK and operations research interdisciplinary course at IITB for MTech admission interview. There the professors know our college very well. (They call it `Burla engineering college`). I was proud tolearn this fact that our college is recogised by the best of the best institutes. Finally i cleared the interview in both the departments. But i will go for MTech in laser technology at IITK.

DHABAs at remed are very conscious of quality of food being served to future technocrats. I would like to share one interesting experience with you all. I have a vivid memory of one such nightout at remed. Five of my batch mates went there to have spicy, tasty, and mouth watering CHICKEN (I donot want to name them). As a novice I refrained from taking something else….. for which remed is famous and sat with them to take Egg bhujia. But to mysurprise rest of my four friends took seriously and to prove their point they mixed two types of SPIRIT and started gulping.
Then something interesting happened, one of my friend said the SPIRIT supplied is DUPLICATE and challenged the owner. Owner vehemently dismissed and asked us to prove. Our HEROs were so sure that One of them bought SPIRIT of same company from another shop and compared. And asked owner to taste. The owner found the difference. After which he did not charge us for the food and drinks that NIGHT. After repeated request he took the price of the CHICKEN which he had supplied.
It happened 17 years ago, I donot know what is happening now. Many of our young friends will enlighten us.
Being an alumni of 2005 batch. I am glad to say that UCE,Burla has improved lot of things in all fields. I would be more happy if I am able to attend spring festival once in my life in future along with my batchmates.
I have listened much about d improvements made in d infrastructure . I am really looking fwd to it…
Had tried to go for the Spring Function which is now goin on… Hope ki i`ll get a chance to go to my college…
hi friends why the response of 79 uce is so static.
Really feeling always to be a UCEian. Missing the hostel days & holi in hostel. & all the exam days, those days are always remembered.
