Mr S S Mohanty as MD, Bokaro Steel Plant

We must take it as pride and pleasure for us that one of our Alumni Mr. Shashi Shekhar Mohanty has taken over as Managing Director of Bokaro Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Ltd. He is a 1978 batch alumnus of UCE. He took over on July 31st. At present he is one of the youngest directors of SAIL. I think he is the first Alumni to reach such a high position in SAIL.
Meanwhile we have conducted a meeting of Bokaro based UCE alumni. There are about 35 alumni working at Bokaro, more than 30 of them are in Bokaro Steel Plant in various position from Junior manager to Managing Director. We are going to meet shortly to felicitate our alumni Mr. SS Mohanty, MD, Bokaro Steel Plant.
Let us all CONGRATULATE him on achieving the feat and WISH HIM SUCCESS in this coveted assignment.

On behalf of Basudevpur Jana Kalyan Parishad, Rourkela, I congratulate Sri Sashi Sekhar Mohanty on his elevation to the coveted post of M.D, Bokaro Steel Plant. He is the proud son of Late Gourang Chandra Mohanty (a teacher) of Radhaballavpur village under Basudevpur Block/NAC in the District of Bhadrak, Odisha.
His wife Dr. Mrs. Bijaylakshmi Pattanayak is an adviser of “Basudevpur Janakalyan Parishad, Rourkela,” a socio cultural organisation.

Mr Sashi Shekhar Mohanty is undoubtedly a man of multi-faceted qualities.He is a charismatic leader of down to earth and approachable personalities known as quick decision maker and right delegation to subordinates among those who worked with him as well as others.His personal touch to man and machine makes him a complete professional.A leader in its original form he is where we prayed for him and he will be there we now praying for him.
Mr Sashi Sekhar Mohanty has made all of us proud for having occupied the coveted post of MANAGING DIRECTOR of one of the largest integrated steel plants of the country. He is a charismatic leader par excellence & he is better known in SAIL for some of the rare qualities such as simplicity, amicable nature, risk taking ability & last but not the least HONESTY & INTEGRITY.
I wish him all the very best in turning around BSL.
MR S.S.MOHANTY is no doubt a down to earth man. He is known around in SAIL for his technical accuman and managerial skill. He has the art of binding people together at all levels. He is liked by all for his amicable behavoiur.
MR ASHIS DAS from 1967 batch Mechanical also had gone to the director level in SAIL as DIRECTOR (PERSONNEL) in .
A self-made man Sri S.S.Mohanty, as I know him, is a man of great character. Very broad minded & a visionary in its true sence. Never is he impression-driven. Decides things on its face value. Has an rare presentation skill. He is decisive & has a very powerful presence-of-mind.
Managerial skill & a sence of ground realities with a blend of human touch mixed togather make an unique managerial base-mix in him; which I am sure shall lead BSL in particular & SAIL in general to new heights.
He is global.
A leader in its genuine form he is where he is supposed to be.
May got bless him to create new heights in his professional life.
