1984 Batch UCE
The mail of student is given below—-
I Lenin Mishra, am a student of Veer Surendra Sai University of
Technology (formerly UCE Burla), bearing Reg. No.-0901078, Pre Final
year Mechanical Engineering. I am writing to you as the Marketing Head of our team
of 25 members of SAE BAJA, STUDENTS CHAPTER VSSUT, BURLA. SAE is a
non-profitable International Organisation known as Society of
Automotive Engineers. SAE endeavours to bring the talent and skills of
the budding engineers into limelight by simulating real world
engineering projects. SAE INDIA organises competitions like Efficycle,
formula SAE which is a racing event and BAJA SAEINDIA which focuses on
All Terrain Vehicles.
We participated in BAJA SAEINDIA prelims and the design of
our vehicle has been selected amongst top 100 colleges of India out of
244 colleges which included participants from reputed colleges like
NIT’S and IIT’S. The main event is at NATRiP, Pithampur, Indore in the
Month of Feb, 2012.
For this we will be making a real working ATV. Indore has
got its own race circuits, and the vehicles of different colleges will
be tested over there under the following categories which are
Acceleration, Braking, Hill Climbing Tests and a final Endurance Test.
For building our ATV we need to buy its various parts like the
Transmission Box, Roll Cage Pipes, Engine, Steering & Suspension
Systems, Tires, Brakes, Safety Equipments, etc. We have calculated the
total estimated cost to be 4.8 Lakhs.
Budget seems to be a major hurdle in our progress. We
are not getting any fund from our College. Therefore we have to
entirely depend on the Sponsors.
Sir, we always talk, how great our
college is but what is that greatness is a question mark. We have
shown our potential by getting enlisted among top 100 colleges of
India. It’s high time we market our college and let people know that
there are a potential group of Engineers in Burla Engineering College.
VSSUT has always received help from its Allumnis and the students
have always succeeded. Even this time we promise to bring name
and fame to our college and maintain the pious relationship between
the students and Allumnis.
Thanking you,
Yours truly,
Lenin Mishra

Global Alumni Meet of VSSUT, Burla

Comments Off, Campus News, MessageBoard, by rmohanty_bgr.

To,

All Alumni,

VSSUT Alumni Association

Burla, Sambalpur, (Odisha)

Dear Alumni,

It gives me immense pleasure to communicate with you that during last annual meeting of our VSSUT Alumni Association (formerly University College of Engineering), Burla and welcome ceremony of freshly passed Alumni on 30th April, 2011 I was elected as the Vice President of the Association. I am quite thankful to all of you for giving this opportunity of responsibility and honour to me. Later we had Executive Body Meetings on 15th May, 2011 and 14th June 2011 during which main thrust was given on the Alumni Connectivity and Communication so that many other desired programme & objectives can be achieved. An ambitious proposal of organizing a Global Alumni Meet on 24th & 25th Dec, 2011 has also been planned.

We have around 18,000 Alumni spread throughout the world. We have taken up of this proposal of organizing a “Global Alumni Meet” during coming December, 2011. The objective is Reunion which is a journey into the Days of Innocence. It will be a reaffirmation of the natural human spirit which is true, genuine and warm and also the experience of emotions of incredible moment and events which has built us what we are today. The batch mates and friends would be calling each other by pet names irrespective of the status achieved or becoming grey haired, spectacled, bald and wrinkled.

Then comes the reciprocation to our Alma mater. Its due growth and improvement and our obligations to be discharged. Visits, discussions and deliberations would certainly bring out some changes and our contributions towards its overall development. There will be more Alumni connecting amongst by proper data and communications. Recalling old memories and enjoying those passed times with pals, would be really exciting and chilling.

Our Alma mater completed 50 years of excellence in the year 2006 and a Golden Jubilee was celebrated in a grand way. The Alumni Association was almost existing formally but took wings during 2004 with active involvement of mainly few senior and young as well as  eminent alumni joining together and creating a “UCE Golden Jubilee Fund” collecting lacs of rupees. The Golden Jubilee Gate was constructed by the Alumni Association standing as a monument to day in the front of the then college and now Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology. Many Alumni from abroad contributed for the cause. Lots of development has been planned by Alumni Association like I.T. and Placement Centre, New Hostel, renovation and better maintenance of the campus, Alumni Guest Houses etc. towards over all development and taking to our Alma mater is the level of one of the Best Technical Institution of the Country.

Our Sub Centre at Bhubaneswar has recently acquired half acre of land in Chandaka Industrial Estate, Bhubaneswar in the name of VSSUT. In recognition of the commendable contribution and role of the Alumni in up gradation of UCE to VSSUT and its rising concern towards the development the VSSUT Act has provided induction of two Alumni to the Board of Management of the University.

In the meantime during June-July, 2011, I had been to USA for a 20 days trip and discussed there with alumni Er. Amitabh Mishra and Er. Sandeep Mishra regarding the affairs and programmes of alumni association. They proposed a meeting with other alumni there which could not materialized due to time constraints but they were quite positive and assured all support and cooperation. Unfortunately, after coming back I suffered and survived a severe Heart Attack during mid August having 3 main arteries blockages and two stented by angioplasty. Now I am getting back normal to assume day to day work and thus communicating this mail.

In order to prepare the alumni contacts Data Bank we have decided to made core group of Batch Representatives who would provide data and coordinate for better communications. After a considerable progress the Executive Body inclusive of the Batch Representatives will take final decisions on all further activities and programmes.

A list of Executive Body Members and format for Batch Representatives is attached for your ready reference, your support in providing information, and your valuable suggestions are solicited to strongly activate our Association and achieve the desired objectives. Also, it is requested to convey and pass on this communication to as many Alumni as possible on your part.

Thanks and regards

Ad for appointment of new VC

Respected/Dear Alumni,

All of us have spent four years in the campus as a student and are quite familiar with all the student related problems of the University and few might have been familiar with the other genuine problems as faculty or administrator as well.

Let’s cherish our golden moments in the campus only and forget the bitter moments of the past to make a bright future ahead. Lets always think what best we can do for our alma-mater ?

Instead of putting further personal comments and views, Lets start working and take the responsibilty of acting on our positive thoughts and encourage and help the small group of teachers, alumni and students who are always taking some noble initiatives and doing something for the betterment to see our alma-mater coming out with flying colors. Lets increase that group strength by more and more involvement in the developmental activities and developmental projects which have already been initiated. Let’s do our part whatever way we like…… Lets complete the “CLASS ROOM IMPROVEMENT PROJECT” which has already started in CSE Department and many alumni have contributed to the cause.

LET ME TAKE A PROMISE TODAY WHICH I HAVE THOUGHT OF IMPLEMENTING LAST YEAR. I AM READY TO CONTRIBUTE 1%(ONE PERCENT OF MY SALARY EVERY MONTH FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE CSE DEPARTMENT.

I will hand over the money/cheque annually to HOD, CSE every year during the Annual Alumni Meet of the Department.

As a duty of secretary of the Alumni Association, I have already communicated the message to Our Honorable Vice-Chancellor cum President of the Alumni Association and concerned authorities via e-mail to take necessary action for the betterment of our alma-mater. We will call an extended executive body meeting of the alumni association to discuss the devlopmental activities in 3rd week of August. You are most welcome to attend that meeting or put your constructive suggestions through e-mail ( to me or president or vice-president)

Also as a Secretary of Teachers Association of the University, I will organize an all faculty meeting of the University, when I will be back to Burla next week to discuss this matter. You know most of the time, these student related issues are taken care of frequently in Wardens Meeting or HOD’s meeting though out of context. We faculty members have spent hours of valuable time and efforts together to resolve student problems and other academic problems.

Some facts about CSE/IT/MCA Department :

WE AS FACULTY MEMBERS ( WITH THE HELP OF FEW ALUMNI OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY) HAVE RESISTED THE NEGATIVE MOVES OF CLOSING THE IT DEPARTMENT AND INCREASING THE STRENGTH OF CSE DEPARTMENT AND HAVE TAKEN EXTRA LOADS TO PREVENT CLOSING OF M.TECH. PROGRAMS IN THE DEPARTMENT IN 2009.

ONE BITTER TRUTH IS THAT ROME WAS NOT BUILT IN A DAY.

LET’S ALL TEACHERS, STUDENTS AND ALUMNI WORK POSITIVELY WITH NOBLE INTENTION FOR YEARS TOGETHER WITH PATIENCE AND PERSEVERENCE TO BRING THE GLORY BACK.

DO NOT FORGET THAT “SMALL SMALL ACHIEVEMENTS COMBINED TOGETHER WILL LEAD TO BIGGER ACHIEVEMENTS TO BRING OUR GLORY BACK”.

LETS THINK POSITIVE, ACT POSITIVE, ACHIEVE POSITIVE.

with best wishes

A Proud UCEian(VSSUTian)
