VSSUT Quarterly Newsletter – Q2 2010

1 Comment, Newsletter, by sandeep_misra.

Dear Alumni,

It is with immense pleasure that we release the second issue of our VSSUT quarterly newsletter.

We would like to thank you all for the numerous suggestions and feedback that we received after the release of the first issue of the newsletter. We have tried to incorporate a few of them starting with a new name for the newsletter - Anubandh which means connection and which signifies the idea of connecting UCEans to their alma mater.

This issue was major challenge for the editorial team as all team members were at different locations owing to summer vacations and summer training programs. However, we have tried our best to pull in all time and resources to make it an enjoyable read for you.

In this issue we celebrate the spirit of constant struggle and excellence. The contents of the newsletter this time have been chosen from a variety of topics like campus news, alumni connect, polls, social initiatives etc and almost all of them signify constant desire for excellence and heart whelming results. Monsoon is in the air and so we have tried giving it a green look to blend with the color that nature brings with the Monsoons. We hope you enjoy reading this edition of the newsletter. :-)

The Q2 2010 issue of the newsletter has been attached for quick reference. The newsletter has also been uploaded in the Yahoo Groups community link. You can read it online here.

Last but not the least, please forward it to all VSSUT (UCE) friends and alumni that you know of. Please copy the email id vssutnewsletter@gmail.com when you forward this email so that we keep a note of the email ids as well. We do not have the entire alumni database ready yet. So, it will help us to communicate better when we release the next version.

Thanks and Regards,
Editorial Team,

The Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) declared the results of all its semesters for the year 2010 on Sunday, just 17 days after completion of the examinations, claimed to be the quickest time for any technical university across the country. The results are also available on www.vssut.ac.in, the university’s website.

Vice-Chancellor Deba Kumar Tripathy thanked all the teachers for their sincere efforts in making this feasible and said this would help the students, especially the final year students, continue their future plans and pursue higher studies.

It is a matter of pride for the teachers and the students of the VSSUT since the Vice-Chancellor, who also was the Odisha-JEE chairman for this year, proved the worth of the Unitary University status given to this college in the recent past and also stood up to its expectations of conducting the JEE as well its own exams as smoothly as it could have been, admitted the students. It is a fact that the VSSUT conducted its all end-semester exams and published its results before the BPUT exams.

While Supriya Mohanty of Civil Engineering was declared as the university topper, the other toppers are Khusbu Patwari in Computer Science and Engineering, N Seetharaman in Electronics and Telecommunication, Arjun Patra in Electrical Engineering, Supriya Baitharu in Information Technology, Dilip Kumar Das Mahapatra in Mechanical Engineering, Pramod Kumar Jena in Manufacturing Science and Engineering and Tushar Ranjan Patra in MCA.

Adding to the jubilation of the +2 students, Vir Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) published the most awaited results of the Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) on Thursday just one day after the publication of council results. The most appreciating thing is that the JEE result came out in 32 days only. The examination was conducted on 18 April, 2010.

Dear All,

It is with immense pleasure that we publish the first edition of VSSUT quarterly newsletter.

You can read the newsletter here: http://www.scribd.com/full/30767458?access_key=key-2e0f8ce2axb1m9sp4kkm

What came out of a leisure talk with Amitabh Mishra Bhai in March this year, was that many of our alumni do not come to know of the happenings at or related to VSSUT (UCE). For a strong bonding with the alma mater, it is very important that we stay in touch with the college where we spent our glorious 4 years. This newsletter is an endeavor from our side to keep you all posted with the happenings at VSSUT for a strong and emotional bonding.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the VSSUT students in the Editorial team: Ashis, Sritam, Simpi and Rituparna who have worked hard to get the articles ready and helped me in designing the concept and framework; and without whose diligence this endeavor would not have been a timely success. Thank You all. I know you folks have made many late nights to complete the same. I would also like to thank our VC, Respected Prof. D. K. Tripathy Sir for giving his kind consent for publishing the newsletter.

The newsletter has also been uploaded in the Yahoo Groups community link at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vssut/files/VSSUT%20Newsletter/ If you face any issues opening this attachment, please download it from there.
I hope you will enjoy this edition of the newsletter, and give a glance back to the era when you once walked the corridors or VSSUT (then UCE). In the coming editions we have a lot more excitement piled up in store for you all.

In case of any suggestions and feedback please send us your inputs at vssutnewsletter@gmail.com.

Updates:

The news spreaded quickly and many Alumni had visited Kalinga Hospital to have the last darsan of the dearest Sir, a good humanbeing.

Pl find below the Condolence sent by some of Alumni———

CONDOLENCE

1) Dear Satya,

So sorry to receive such an unexpected bad news about Prof. Sar’s demise. I know him for many decades. First time i met him in UCE during my daughter’s admission in 1996. From that time i had contact with him for some matter or other in connection with OBA. VISSUT lost a good professor, we lost a good alumni. Thank you for your message, please keep doing.

Mine and M.K.M.’s condolences are with his family.

Renubala Mohanty

2) Dear Friends,

A very sad news indeed. Our Friends Santosh Sar, the most amicable, sociable and the most simple boy of our batch is no more. God has taken him to His abode.

I had been to the hospital along with Bimal mishra and Jagannath Mohanty and can not describe the sad atmosphere of friends and relatives. We have lost a true friend indeed. May Lord Jagannath Jee give strength and stand by the side of the bereaved family.

Kalinga Hospital is keeping the body for tonight and his relatives plan to take him to Swargadwar tomorrow morning. Let us assemble at Kalinga Hospital early morning to have his last darshan and bid farewell. Friends, out of bhubaneswar , who like to see him, may have his darsana in the attached picture.

When a friend departs, we realize life is too small. But let us all assemble and stand by his family in such hour of deep grief and sorrow.

Yours,

Er.Lalit Mohan Pattnaik,UCE 77 batch.

Plot-226, Unit-III, Bhubaneswar

3) Dear Panda

It is a very very sad news for me, I have been to his house many times during Burla days with Khandai.I was so much associated with him that he was almost a daily friend at tea shop during break hours at IIT, Kharagpur.I met him last when I went to Burla last time with you for our scholarship. He is such a pragmatic and humble person that anybody who interacts with him will get to know his greatness of personality. Moreover his sister was reading with us during BJB days and was the humblest and simple girl I rememeber ,in entire college those days.

I feel losing a permanent link to UCE and a good senior friend and mentor.

I condole his death from deepest of my heart and for me a personal loss indeed.

I pray to God that his soul rest in peace.

Please explore the condition of his family and possibilities if we can be of any help to them
